K-8 LESSONS
TEACHING PHILOSOPHY
I would like to influence students' lives by opening them up to the world of art. Not only do I want to show them various techniques and works of art that are new to them, but I want to show how much of an impact art has in life. Art has the ability to shape politics, express ideas, speak out for those that are in need, and much more. Techniques and ways of thinking that are learned in the art room can be used and applied to other subjects in school as well as their personal lives. Creativity and being able to problem solve are essential skills to have when you step outside of school and into the community. When children are young their creativity flourishes and they never hold anything back. There then comes a time when children become more self conscious in taking risks and the things they make and are afraid to express their creativity. I would like to foster a classroom environment that allows for students to embrace their ideas and see them come to light. Art has the ability to become a revolutionary tool that young students and adults will be able to utilize in the world around us.
